Link. Of note in this article, the idea of inserting advertisments into podcasts. If that catches on, wouldn't there be a need for customizing audio ads to match the style and content of the podcasts? So far, the podcasts I've heard are really lo-fi. Part of that is a mp3 bit rate issue but part of that is amateurism. And to me, that's also what is so charming. The podcasts I've heard are lo fi transmissions where the sky's the limit as far as subject matter and language go. Neat. So how do ads fit into this kind of free form audio content? Any thoughts? Is podcasting really capable of being the next marketable media wave or is podcasting just one-way hamm radio over the internet? Man, I'm starting to sound like a podcast myself. Once again, its time to update that RSS feed.

The first annual Valley of the Vapors indie music festival is next month in Hot Springs. And I am going to defer any witty stabs you'd like to take at this festival's appelation to the comments area. Fire at will.
Here's an article in today's NYT with Pat Metheny. I like the format of this interview. The goal here is not to create a list of Metheny's favorite songs and musicians. Instead the pair (interviewer and musician) talk about music. Wow. What a novel idea.
Very funny. Not too quirky and not too cutesy. Woody Allen meets Wes Anderson (it turns out, they have something in common).
Cool. Red Chuck is now forwarding emails when you guys post comments. Now I know when you are posting and knowing is half the battle.
So why not make this a two way street. Lemme know if you'd like to receive an email when I post a new entry and I'll put you on the Red Chuck notification list.
Speaking of studios, no one told me that Muscle Shoals Sound Studio had closed down.
The recording session this weekend went great. 10 songs in a day — a new land speed record for the Boondogs.

The Arkansas Times Daily Blog is now in my links section. So far they've been the best source of info on this Deltic Timber BS.
The Arkansas Times Blog and John Brummet sound off today on Central Arkansas Water and Deltic Timber.
Its extremely rare that I get to dine at a steak house. That's part of the deal when your spouse is a vegetarian. So lemme ask you this. Is the primary color in most steak houses brown? Do all steak houses make their waiters wear culottes? Do all steak houses serve butter smothered bread with au jus? Have you ever liked au jus so much you poured it over your salad? Do people who enjoy steak houses often make photo gallerys out of their dining experience?

Harrison & Helen make great protesters. They love to shout "No!" and put on their sad faces.
Obviously we made it to the rally today.
Since us Boondogs aren't distributing any flyers for our musical engagement tonight at White Water Tavern, I thought I'd share the handbill the singer for the Applescruffs made. Now if you would like to obtain one of these flyers, you need to go to Leo's and just happen to look on that shelf to the right of the cash register. No. Down and to the right. Just about at knee level. Right there, behind the stack of Redbook magazines, and don't be distracted by the baklava in the display case to the left! Keep looking... there's a little clear plastic box. Voila! Flyers. As you can see, I've been carrying mine around in my pocket for awhile. Anyway, sincere thank yous to the Applescruffs for promoting the show. It will be fun. See you tonight!

I tried to make a card with Harrison and Helen inside a heart. This turned out so horrible I just had to share. Note to self, get a Photoshop book.

Stylish and functional, the Star Jack is the perfect gift for all those... lets see... how to put this diplomatically... all those... talented, winsome, enigmatic, absent minded, flaky, irresponsible, fanciful, wandering, dreamy, unreliable... people in our lives.
USA TODAY covers podcasting.
I guess its time to update those old RSS feeds.
Session notes for The Farmer:
Harrison — vocals, wind-up bird, shimmering flute
Dada — loops
Recorded on Sunday, 2/6/2005 (a cold and rainy afternoon). After vocals and initial tracks were laid, Harrison suggested that the song needed "woodwinds". We both agreed his third take on the keyboard was the keeper (by that time the novelty of holding down several keys at once had worn off).
Music for and inspired by the drawing "The Farm" © Harrison (see previous entry).
