NYT on Podcasting

Link. Of note in this article, the idea of inserting advertisments into podcasts. If that catches on, wouldn't there be a need for customizing audio ads to match the style and content of the podcasts? So far, the podcasts I've heard are really lo-fi. Part of that is a mp3 bit rate issue but part of that is amateurism. And to me, that's also what is so charming. The podcasts I've heard are lo fi transmissions where the sky's the limit as far as subject matter and language go. Neat. So how do ads fit into this kind of free form audio content? Any thoughts? Is podcasting really capable of being the next marketable media wave or is podcasting just one-way hamm radio over the internet? Man, I'm starting to sound like a podcast myself. Once again, its time to update that RSS feed.
